I had prepared a 10,000 word

.... essay on why I hate the New York Mets but they managed to hang on and beat the San Diego Padres this afternoon. Seriously, I hate that team. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting a product like that on the field considering their payroll. The only thing worse than rooting for the Mets every day is having money on the Tigers and seeing Todd Jones enter the game. Next time I see the "Garbage Can" come out of the bullpen, I'm just going to gouge my eyes out. It will be less painful than watching him struggle through another interminable half inning.

Wait. I'm not done with the baseball talk. Who the hell is Cole Hamels to be a 2 dollar favorite over a team with a winning record? That guy is the most overrated player in a city full of them. (The blog is pointing its finger at you, Lito Sheppard.) The only good thing the Mets have going for them is the fact that the Phillies are almost as gutless a bunch as New York is. That team is littered with born losers like Brett Myers and Pat "The Babe" Burrell. Who knows where they would be without the prodigious stick of Ryan Howard in the middle of their otherwise pedestrian order?

Okay, I am actually blogging for a reason today. A respected NFL Preseason group has released a play tonight and I have decided to ride their coattails. In fact, they not only informed of their play, I even received informative blurbs about each of Thursday's games. I have to admit, I was truly impressed. Here's my plan: I tell you guys that I am getting this play from someone else, so if it loses I can just blame it on him/them. However, should this ticket cash, I will post my record in my next blog as 1-0 on my own personal picks. It's really win/win. (Well, unless the bet loses, of course. Then I'm just out two bills. That would suck.)

Without further ado, here's the pick:

(247) Baltimore Ravens +3.5

A few angles I like here. Baltimore has a 3-way QB battle going between Kyle Boller, Troy Smith, and rookie Joe Flacco. All should see extensive time and all will be eager to impress the coaches. I consider Willis McGahee being out of this game a plus for Baltimore bettors. I also like the John Harbaugh's first game angle. TGTB and Randy Moss will apparently see very little field time, as well.

I should note that I would have most likely gotten a better number had I not been out with Hoffy until all hours of the night. By the time I woke up (And watched the USA-Japan Olympic soccer match on my DVR) those damn Sherman's People had moved the line to 3.5 all over the city. But I think it may be worth that half point lost to have hung out with "The H" last night. It's been a square's paradise on the diamond recently and the sharps like Hoffman are really feeling it. So, we went out, drank some beer, gawked at the MILFy bartender, saw some naked "Girls" (I'm putting girls in quotations because it doesn't seem right describing some of those 40something strippers as girls), and even had the Gambler's Special at the Rock. I think I had him relatively cheered up. Until he lost bets on both the Padres and the Under this morning. Yikes. The sharps are taking it on the chin. I just hope he doesn't go on tilt and bring back those suicide missions he calls "Multi-Unit" plays. I may have to confiscate his computer.

I lost some value by being out last night but apparently I wasn't the only one running around this city. I sent an e-mail to Mr. GolfOdds.com on Wednesday asking for advice on a golf bet and he e-mailed me back this morning saying only "Sorry didn't get home until late." Well, that's just great. Perhaps I should have texted him?

If I hear any new Brett Favre developments, I'll pass them along to you guys. It won't be easy, though. None of the major networks are covering his story closely.

I'm not doing a new poll or new pictures today. Art Monk deserves to be up there. He earned it. That picture of Tom Cruise and the message to Jorgen always makes me laugh. And Sean insisted that I put up more pictures of Miley Cyrus so I did and I'm keeping it that way.

Enjoy the PGA.
