Sometimes I might catch a severe case of writer's block

.... but who can blame me? With no Cup race over the weekend and the Timberwolves season now officially over, what do you people expect me to blog about? What else is there?

It wasn't a good weekend for this blogger as my Chicago Fire bet went up in flames (pun intended!) on Sunday afternoon and I lost quite a bit on a golf matchup of Sean O'Hair over Brandt Snedeker. Instead of dwelling on my losses, I will focus on the lessons I learned from these setbacks:

1. I need to renew my MLS Direct Kick subscription so I can keep tabs on the world's 14th best soccer league

2. Don't bet against "Sneds"

The blog did enjoy one major victory on Saturday night as Joe "The Italian Dragon" Calzaghe defeated Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins by split decision. Incidentally, I did not get any "hot tips" this week from Jorgen (I believe it's Jorgen or Yorgen. It might be a soft "J") Johnson who famously put a dent in my bankroll with his ridiculous inside information in last week's Chad Dawson fight. Just a horrible, horrible tip....

It's going to be a big week for the blog as there is a lot to look forward to. We start with two enticing matchups in the Champions League during the week, the Sprint Cup Series returns to action this weekend, and of course the highlight of the month takes place in New York City at the NFL Draft.

The blog will be your source for up to the minute draft updates and unsolicited opinions on what each of the 32 teams should do. I am also inviting readers to call in all week long to chat about the Draft at 702.556.1801.

This seems like a good time to point out that I do not have a radio show or any form of podcast. The above number is my personal cell phone number. Before you take the time to "Call in," you should probably realize that there will not be anyone listening to our conversation. It's just going to be the two of us talking about the Draft and/or any other current events I feel are relevant. This has upset a lot of people in the past so I felt it was time to put that disclaimer in the blog....

Now that we have that cleared up, let's move on to Monday's picks:

Washington Wizards +2 (Silver Bullet Special)

Florida Marlins -110

Boston Bruins +180

Look for the Wizards to be carried to victory on Monday night by Caron "Tough Juice" Butler as they even their series with the Cavaliers and Head Coach Mike "What? You Guys Want a Play? Just, just give it to LeBron...." Jones.

Nicknames have been a common theme in today's blog and with that in mind, here's Monday's trivia question:

Name two of the three wide receivers who comprised the 1980s Denver Broncos trio known as the "Three Amigos?"

Editor's Note: This question was originally going to be name three of the five original "Hogs" but we felt that Redskins offensive line group was just too widely known and that it would be too easy.

Last Tuesday's Answer - The Oakland Raiders linebacker who recovered that fumble was Greg Biekert. Nobody got that one....

Enjoy the game.

The Cavs head coach is Mike Brown, not Jones......and the answer to the trivia question is Ricky Nattiel, Vance Johnson and Mark Jackson.

Carl Edwards
